Best wishes, Miss Hannan and Miss Paul!

For the past six weeks, 4KM and 4KJ have enjoyed having Miss Hannan and Miss Paul in the classroom.

They are student teachers from Deakin University. This is Miss Hannan and Miss Paul’s final week in 4KM and 4KJ. You can read more about them here.

Miss Hannan (left, 4KJ) and Miss Paul (right, 4KM) spent their final teaching placement at Leopold Primary School. We thoroughly enjoyed having them with us. They planned and taught many fantastic lessons, and we will be sad to see them go.

Some highlights of Miss Hannan and Miss Paul’s time with us include…

* Their fun and creative maths lessons.

* Learning about road safety and bike education.

* Skyping with Miss Hannan’s sister, Sophie from The Block.

* Meeting one of the special gnomes from The Block.

* Writing narratives.

* Learning more CAFE reading strategies.

* Playing fun activities on the interactive whiteboard.

Here are some Wallwisher messages from the 4KM and 4KJ students.

Skyping With Sophie From The Block!

This week, 4KM and 4KJ were surprised and excited to learn that Miss Hannan, who is a student teacher in 4KJ at the moment, is related to someone special. Her sister is Sophie, from The Block!

The Block is a popular television show in Australia. It features four couples who have to renovate very old, rundown adjacent townhouses in Melbourne, Victoria. They have just ten weeks to complete a full house renovation! Sophie is on the show with her husband, Dale.

Dale and Sophie, from The Block.

They have a specific budget, they compete in challenges for extra prizes and there are strict building regulations they have to comply with.

Each week the couples have to renovate and decorate one room and there is a prize for the winning room. Once the houses are complete, they go to auction, live on television.

It is currently the fourth week of The Block on television, but the filming finished up earlier in the year. Check out Sophie and Dale’s house so far!

Sophie is a teacher, and she is currently teaching a Grade 5/6 class at Stonnington Primary School. She kindly gave up some of her time this afternoon to skype with us!

Many students had questions for Sophie and we skyped with her for about 25 minutes.

Here is a transcript of the questions and answers.

Let’s get behind Sophie and Dale by voting for them in The Block’s Suzuki competition! Click here to vote for Sophie and Dale as the “best sports” on The Block. If they get the most votes, they’ll win a Suzuki Swift Sport car! You’ll go in the draw to win a new car too! Students – please ask your parents to vote for you.

A very big thank you to Sophie for skyping with us today. It was a highlight of the year so far for the students!
