Last week the Regional Athletics Championships was held at Landy Field. 4KM and 4KJ were represented by three students – Elijah, Leah and Hannah.
All students did a fantastic job!
We’d like to offer a special
to Elijah of 4KM who came first in the 9/10 year old boys triple jump.
Elijah has made it to the State Track and Field Championships which will be held on Monday 29th October at the State Athletics Centre, Albert Park. What an achievement!
Elijah has a personal best jump distance of 9 metres and 31 centimetres. This is an incredible record and we hope Elijah can do his best at the state championships.

Dear Ronan,
There’s no way I could do the things he does. He so committed to his athletics.
Where will it take him?
I think if he keeps it up it will take him to the Olympics.

Dear Elijah,
Wow! What an achievement! I can’t wait to hear what happens next. I was not clear about the event, but it made it very easy to understand because of Trent’s video.
I converted 9 metres and 31 centimeters. That’s 30.5 feet! Wow!
Congratulations to Leah and Hannah for representing your region! Were you two competing in the triple jump?
How did you first learn about this event? What other events were held?
Again, congratulations!
Mrs. Y♥llis
Dear Mrs Yollis,
Thank you for commenting on our class blog.
There was a whole range of different events.
Some where:
800m
Hurdles
High jump
Triple Jump
Long jump
1500m
100m
There were some more events but it would take to long to name them all.
I learnt about triple jump when I started Little Athletics witch was four or five years ago.
Leah and I were not competing in triple jump. I was competing in 800m and Leah was competing in hurdles.
Have you ever done Little Athletics?
From your Blogging buddie,
Hannah (4KJ)
@ Hannah,
Thank you for your reply.
I have not done any Little Athletics. However, when I was in high school. I tried out for the track team, but alas, I was not very fast.
Your proud pal,
Mrs. Y♥llis
Dear Mrs Yollis
Thankyou for commenting on this wonderful post about me. Hannah and Leah were not competing in the triple jump. Leah was in the 80M hurdels and Hannah was in the 800M.
Some of the other events were 100M 200M and 1500M, long jump, discus and shot put.
From your friend,
Elijah
Dear Elijah,
How did you get interested in the triple jump? Have you always had this ability or did you just discover this talent?
Your friend,
Mrs. Y♥llis
Dear Mrs Yollis
It’s great to here from you again. I got my interest in triple jump when I got the record last year.
I was actually going for the hundred metres record but unecspectedly I got a fluke in the triple jump.
It’s such a shame that you didn’t make the track team, have you ever wanted to coach the sport?
From your friend
in Australia
Elijah
Elijah,
Yes, running did look like fun, but I didn’t have the speed or endurance.
I never coached, but teaching is sort of like coaching.
Your friend, Coach Y♥llis
Dear Elijah,
Congratulations on your wonderful achievement one that you should be so proud of.
I bet you are looking forward to the State Track and Field event. I am pretty sure you will super great on the day too.
Also congratulations to Leah and Hannah.

@ Hannah,
Thank you for taking the time to write a comment back to me.
You did so well to do the 800 I can only do the 100.
Is the 800 your favourite event?
Bye from AA.
Dear AA,
The 800 is one of my favourite events. I like the walk as well.
The walk is hard, I usally do 11,000.
You walk with your legs straight, and wiggle your hips.
Nice talking,
From,
Hannah
Dear Elijah,
COngratulations on your accomplishment! That is quite an achievement!
Did you have to train much?

I hope to become good blogging buddies with you.
Your new blogging buddy,
Liv
Dear Liv,
Thanks for looking at our blog! We are new to blogging this year, but we are very excited to meet and make blogging buddies all over the world!
Many of my students have already found a couple of blogs from your school to follow and become blogging buddies.
What is your favorite part about blogging?
Do you have any suggestions for me or my students?
Your blogging buddy in the United States,
Miss Backs
Dear Elijah,
Congratulations on placing first in your age group for the triple jump. I’ve always thought the triple jump just a little harder when trying no to cross the foul line.
Like many topics, Wikipedia has a reference to the triple jump…
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Triple_jump
Perhaps one day your name might appear on the page as Oceania or world record holder.
Does this mean you might represent Victoria if you do well at the state carnival?
@RossMannell
Teacher (retired), N.S.W., Australia
@ Ross,
It’s Liv S from 4KJ here!
Thankyou for your wonderful and high quality comment. We always love to hear from you.
I agree, what an achievement it is for Elijah to come first in the 9/10 boys and make it to the State Champs.
I found the Wikipedia site very interesting, thanks! I especially liked reading about the record holders.
I was thinking the same thing when I looked at it. We may see Elijah’s name on there one day.
What type of athletics do you enjoy watching?
What is your favourite sport?
Your blogging buddy,
Liv
Dear Ross
thankyou for your comment,it is a bit harder trying not to go past the foul line seeing you have to hop, step, and jump.
We have actually arleady looked at the wikipedia site. Thakyou for your incouragement of ever being A record holder and yes I might get to represent victoria.
From Elijah
Dear Elijah,
If you do get to represent Victoria, I don’t know anyone entering from N.S.W. so you’ll have someone from across the border hoping you win.
@RossMannell
Dear Elijah,
What a great achievement.
You should be proud of getting to the championships. I don’t know anything about triple jump, but what I am proud of doing is….
Once at my old school I was in a completion as well, and I came first in hurdles and second in 100 meters and long jump.
Keep up the good work,
From Chloe
Dear Chloe,
What a fabulous blogger you are! You have learnt so much about blogging are you are really showing it. Keep up the great work!
Yes Elijah should be proud of getting to the State Championships.
I’m in the same world, not knowing anything about triple jump, or even any type of athletics! Probably because I’ve never been any good at it.
Congratulations on coming first in hurdles and second in 100 metres. What grade were you in when you accomplished that achievement?
Your blogging buddy,
Liv
Dear Eli,
Congratulations! You have done a…a… great job I hope you do come first in the championships. Come home with a gold, keep on hopping.
From
Patrick
Dear Patrick,
Thanks for the great comment on our class blog!
Elijah should be proud of himself. He’s done a spectacular job getting to the point of the State Championships.
Nice joke! Keep on hopping!
Liv
Dear Elijah,
Wow what an achievement on getting into States. I bet your family is very proud of you!
You are not just a fabulous runner, you are awesome at triple jump too.
I don’t really know much about triple jump, but I do know that you have to hop, step and jump before you jump!
A personal achievement of mine is that last week on Friday I got my personal best on the beep test 8.4. I bet my sister in term one three and four. (We didn’t do it in term two.)
well got to go,
Jess
Dear Elijah,
Congratulations on coming 1st in the 9/10 year old boys triple jump.
I like improving at things. I usually always improve at the beep test.
I enjoy playing netball. It is fun running around on court. I love shooting goals in GA (Goal Attack) or GS (Goal Shooter). I also like being a defender on the other teams GS so that means I am GK (Goal Keeper).
From,
Skye
Hi Eli!
Wow! I am so happy for you! It’s a shame I wasn’t there to say congratulations but awesome job and I hope you do great in the States! Have you ever been to States before?
I don’t know much about Triple Jump.
The achievement I am proud of is earning my first medal in tennis!
From,
Maha
Dear Maha
