Cinquain Poems

4KM and 4KJ have been writing cinquain poems this week.

Cinquain poems have five lines and follow this structure:

Line 1: Noun or subject of poem (one word)

Line 2: Two adjectives that describe line 1

Line 3: Three verbs that describe line 1

Line 4: A short phrase about line 1

Line 5: A synonym of line 1 (one word)

Here is a cinquain poem about Miss Jordan’s cat, Bella.

Cheeky, playful

Purring, eating, sleeping

Always full of energy

    • Dear Ethan,
Thank you for commenting on our blog.
The Poem about Miss Jordans cat was really good. Lots of people have a cat or a dog for a pet because they are very popular.

My cat is very old mum bought her when she was a little girl and she is still with us now. Maxi is not very active but she does like to go for morning walks sometimes she goes again at night.

    • Dear Will,

I like your poem because it is out of your head and your not copying anyone eles lots of people like poems that other people all teachers do as well but they like iit the most.

  2. Dear 4KM and 4KJ,

    • Dear Shakira,
Thank you for commenting on our blog. Like I said to Cam I had a little peek at your poems while I was on my way to get a drink.

I like your poem because it is realy crative and creative is good. It is good that you are making up another poem even though you hsve made one in class. It means that you are enjoying what you are learning in class.

    • Dear Shakira,
Thank you for commenting on our blog. Like I said to Cam when I was on my way to gert a drink I had a litle peek at your class poems and the were good.

I like your poem because it is creative and I like creative. The part I like about it the most is that you made another poem even though you already did one in class that means that you are enjoying what you are learning in class.

  3. Dear 4KM and 4KJ,

What a wonderful post, Miss Jordan! I think the cinquain poems were great and I think it was a great idea to write them in class.

My cinquain poems were about sport and summer. The summer one was in the post but I will tell you the sport one.

    Attack, defence
    Catching, throwing, cheering
    Running around on the court

Do you like that cinquain poem?
What did you do your cinquain poems about?

    From your classmate,
    Skye ♦

    • Dear Skye,
Thank you for commenting on our blog. Miss Jordaan did a great job doing this post because she doesn’t have Mrs Morris to talk to about the blog and what to put on it.

I like your poem because it sounds like grade five work because of the words you used in your poem. You did a great job on your poem and like I said to Shakira you must like learning at school.

      From Maddy

  4. Dear 4KM and 4KJ,
I remember Miss. Jorden saying in class that her cat is more like a dog, the exact same as my cat.
My cat is also attached to boxs. He tried to fit in a cearial box once! ๐Ÿ˜†

Anyway, I didn’t come and leave a comment about cats, I came to leave a comment about the cinquain poems.

My one was Library. The one that I liked the best was Bubble-gum.

    Your friend,
    Bronte ๐Ÿ™‚

    • Dear Bronte,

      What a wonderful comment!

I think it would be funny having a pet acting like another pet. It was funny how Miss Jordan said that Bella her cat stares at her everywhere she goes.

That is hilarious. I can’t believe your cat likes to go in ceral boxes. How does the ceral box get on the ground?

I liked your cinquain poem. Shakira’s bubblegum poem was interesting but a great idea.

      • Dear Skye,
I have a pantry that has door and it’s always opened.

The cat climbs into the pantry and knocks the box down and squishs inside it.
He also likes to hop in bags to! ๐Ÿ˜†

People think that he’s really fat, but he just has a thick coat.

        Your friend,
Bronte P.S My cats name is Chester. PPS He actually looks like a Toby. ๐Ÿ™‚

    • Dear Bronte,
Thank you for leaving a comment on the blog. I have never heard that a cat could be like a dog and a dog be like a cat. That is very weird of your cat trying to fit in cereal box so that is very interesting to hear.

It is good that you didn’t visit the blog to just leave a comment about cat because I remember that Mrs Morris and Miss Jordan telling us that always writing a comment about the post not on a different topic.

I realy like the bubble-gum poem you did it shows everyone that you realy care. I liked everyones poem they were also creative.

      From Maddy

  5. Dear 4KM and 4KJ,

Wow! What a great post! I love writing cinquain poems. I thought cinquain poems were a really cool type of poem because it was set out different, as most poems are set out the same.

The poems were really interesting to read but Shakira’s especially stood out to me with her bubblegum words. I liked it because it had great words to go with it, like:
    โ™ฅ Chewy
    โ™ฅ Sticky
    โ™ฅ Munching
    โ™ฅ Blowing
    โ™ฅ Popping
Also, I really loved Shakira’s phrase, ‘Don’t get it on your face!’ Aswell as Shakira’s, everyone else did a super job. Well done!

Wow Miss Jordan, Bella is so cute! The photo of her in your black bag was extremely great. That’s funny how you said Bella just stares at you.

    This is my cinquain poem…
    Refreshing, bright,
    Blooming, hatching, gardening,
A good season to fly a kite,

At school, my cinquain poems were about school and winter. I chose winter for my good copy. This was how my poem about winter went…
    cold, icy,
    skiing, sculpting, cooking,
    the coldest season ever!

What did you enjoy about writing cinquain poems?

    See you tomorrow!
    Liv ๐Ÿ™‚

        Liv ๐Ÿ™‚

    • Dear Liv S,
WOW what a great comment I bet you put a lot of effort into it. Thank you for commenting on the class blog. The favourite part about Cinquain Poem is that how the artist sets the whole thing out.

All thepoems Miss Jordan’s class and ourshas tried their hardest and when they do that it makes the teachers happy and it makes yourself happy that you did a good job.

It was nice for Miss Jordan to join in with the fun.
