May Is Family Blogging Month!

4KM and 4KJ love to share what they are learning and experiencing through this blog.

The involvement of family members in our blog is so important. It makes everything we do at school more meaningful and special.

In an effort to include more family members in our online community, we are starting a new blog comment challenge called

Whenever a students’ family member leaves us a comment, the student will record it on our blog comment chart using the following codes.

Family Blogging Month Codes

At the end of May, the 4KM student and 4KJ student who have the most comments from different family members will win a prize! In order to keep the challenge fair to everyone, each student can only record one comment on the chart per day. So the goal is to get as many different family members involved as possible during the month-long challenge!

Having conversations through commenting is one of the best parts of blogging so in your comments feel free to ask questions and reply to other peopleโ€™s questions.

Weโ€™re inviting everyone to comment including mums, dads, brothers, sisters, grandmas, grandpas, uncles, aunts, cousins and family friends.

* Family members don’t have to comment only on this post, they can comment on any post on our blog. *

Mrs Morris and Miss Jordan have run similar competitions in the past and it is always a big success. Thanks to Mrs Yollis for inspiring us with this idea! She sure does have a lot of great ideas!

  1. Hi Jess

It was great meeting you last year in England. I hope to come visit you in Australia one day and see a real Koala Bear.

I am 5 now and I go to Rainbows which is like Brownies but for younger children. Last week we are working towards a badge and we were learning about Australia. We tried some foods from Australia, like Anzac Biscuits and Damper Bread.
    They tasted very different…

    Flame xx

    • Dear Flame,

I didn’t visit you in England last year Daisy did.

Do you really wont to see a Koala I’ve seen them heaps and they are very cute.
Sounds like you had great fun tasting all different Aussie foods. Did you like them?

It is great that you are tring to get a badge I hop you get to it. Good luck!

It is such a shame that Legoland was closed yesterday. Mabye I will get to go there again one day and actually remember what it looks like.

  4. Wow, I have just read everyone’s comments about the family blogging month of May. It is such a great way for extended family members to find out about and participate in what is going on in your classroom. I have put out a call to our extended families who are in different countries around the world to leave a comment during the month of may. Good luck everyone, happy blogging, Katy ๐Ÿ™‚

  5. Hi Jess

Greetings Australia from Finland… There is still snow on the ground here since November last year.. Its nearly gone though.

Your Class Blog is a great idea to share what you are doing with friends and family.

  6. Hi I’m Katherine, Madeline’s other aunt. This blog is such a great idea, and from all the blogs on here everyone is enjoying it, students and family alike. I work at a university, where students blog a lot, so this is a great introduction to the world of blogging. Whenever Madeline comes to visit me she rushes to my laptop so she can check her school page! I enjoy going to the football with Madeline also, and Sandi (Max’s mum) I think the grade 4’s would be thrilled to have Josh visit, I actually read about him in the paper yesterday. Happy blogging ๐Ÿ™‚

  17. Hi, Olivia, Nan here from NZ
I love this blogging – when I went to school we had to write letters in our best writing, post the letter and wait for about 2 weeks (if it was going to Australia) for a reply. You will get this immediately! Congratulations to all the runners from Leopold school. Go Leopold!!!!

  18. @ Nanny,

Thanks for your great comment. It is cool to think how much technology has developed from the time you were at school to now that I am at school. Thanks for your great words of encouragement for all the Leopold students who took part in the district athletics at Torquay!
    Love from Olivia xox

  19. Hi, Alistair Young, Olivia’s Poppy here
We enjoyed having Olivia and her sister Stephanie over here in NZ recently for a holiday. They were good and interested visitors to Wellington. One thing that has always intrigued them is the number of long tunnels we have in Wellington – Wellington is very hilly and sometimes it is simply easier to go through hills rather than around or over them. I am sure they will recall their trip on the Wellington Cable Car.

    • @Poppy,
Thanks for your wonderful comment and for taking part in our blogging month of May competition, thanks to you and Nanny, Aunty Jackie, Daniel, Stephie and mums friend Nic my family has left a comment everyday which is great for the competition!
We had a great trip to NZ especially seeing as we didn’t have mum and dad with us. The highlights of the trip for me was the museum, the ride on the cable car and of course spending time with you and Nanny and meeting Emily. Wellington is very hilly, you live at the top of a hill and have a beautiful view.
      Your relative,
      Olivia  ๐Ÿ˜‰ ๐Ÿ™‚

  24. Hi Jadyn .
    This is Old Grandma.
We were watching people fishing. One man pulled in a fish every five minutes. It was fun to watch. Other people were on the same jetty and they caught none.
The Osprey birds were sitting on top of the light poles.
They were swooping in and catching the fish in their claws. They are very fast.

  25. Hi Max !!

Ive just been reading alot of the blog comments from your class. It is great to see so many people getting involved.Good luck with the blogging challenge and have fun doing it.
    Uncle Yob!!

  26. Hi Max

I’ve also been reading your classes blog comments. Today its Mitch’s birthday, we got him an ipod touch and put it in an old mobile phone box to trick him. He was a bit surprised when he opened it and found there was an ipod in there. He didn’t really want a mobile phone.

Good luck with the blogging challenge.
